Elves, hidden people, trolls – the tale of Iceland

Everyone believes in something.

Even if you claim yourself non believer there is surely a lot to believe in. If you still think there is no way that can happen to you, pack your bags and buy a plane ticket to Iceland. At least this is what I did.

Odd rocks, wind, water, sand, moor, weather changing every 10 minutes. The sun! Odd rocks, wind, water, sand, moor…and so on. It really does not matter as what you can see around, almost cosmic shaped rocks, mountains, volcanoes, glaciers compensate every single raindrop, wind gust, small gravel heating your car every time the wind blows a bit faster.

In the southern part of the island, not far from thw city Vik, there is a gem of icelandic nature, Reynisfjara. one of my favorite places I have seen in Iceland. Black sandy beach surrounded with rocky basalt columns. For sure you will feel tempted to climb coouple of meters up the basalt wall. I guess i was not brave enough knowing that afterwards i will need to step down.

What will attract you the most when walking down the beach will be for sure  Reynisdrangar. Easy to see at the sea horizont, two spectacurarly shaped basalt rocks will grasp your attention. The icelandic folklor states that these are actually two trolls turned into stacks what is really easy to imagine when you look at it, especially at the particular weather conditions. There must be some magic

Travelling around Iceland makes you feel surrounded by magic or however you want to call the nature creativity. Gullfoss is definately a product of nature’s creativity . I can imagine that coming to this place in Spring or Summer sets you in a bit different feeling and impressions, but i do not regret to see the ixeland and its wonders at the end of winter. Not only snow and wind makes the island misterious but also the sun seems shining way different. When planning this trip my goal was to see the sun  solstice  on 21 March. Altough i am not the master of the photgraphy, i managed to capture those insolite moments.Never before i have seen the sky was that dark at 10 o clock  inthe morning.

I think everyone should find some good excuses and reasons to visit this country. I was extremely satisfied with the trip even though i did nit accomplished all the goals like seeing arctic foxes, whales, puffins or go even more to the East.It just takes time and you need to choose at which season you want to visit Iceland.

Althought Reykjavik makes a fantastic impression with all colours, untypical cafes , seashore and boutiques, it is worth to go further, in my case, to the South and East.
